Is your Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) slow to open a new tab?
If you use Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), is it very slow to open a new tab, often taking 10 seconds or more?
Try disabling the Java Plug-In SSV Helper add-on.
Hopefully this blog post makes enough of a mark in search engines to help someone else experiencing the same problem of Internet Explorer 8 being slow to open a new tab. It’s a specific solution to a specific problem, so it may not work for everyone.
Go to your Tools menu and click “Manage Add-Ons.”
Under “Toolbars and Extensions,” scroll to “Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper.” Right-click it and choose “Disable.”
Disabling this will not stop you from being able to run Java applets in your browser.
